Make a Gift to the Bright Fund

Gifts to the Bright Fund are used to address the school’s immediate needs such as curricular enhancements, technology upgrades, and faculty/staff salaries and benefits. Our Bright School community directly benefits from your investment, allowing us to strengthen and enrich the School’s mission.

Last year, 95% of parents and 100% faculty and staff made a gift to support the Bright Fund. This community support makes a tremendous impact on our students’ experiences.

We want to get to 100% parent participation by September 15 this year. If we get to 90%, students will celebrate with "cow day" on September 22, which will include a fun assembly and Chick-fil-A lunch.

Starting the School Day Well

An area that we put much focus on during these first weeks of the school year is building classroom community. One strategy is through a classroom’s morning meeting. This is an opportunity for our teachers and students to come together, talk about what is happening during that day and ways that we can support each other. Topics will vary, but it is a great reminder as we start the day that students are part of a class community.

In order for students to fully engage in the start of the school day, they need to be in their classroom and ready to go when the day begins at 8 a.m. These first moments set the tone for the rest of the day and it is important for students to be here to experience all that the teachers have poured so much intentionality into for them. While we recognize that these first weeks of school can be a transition, we ask that you make every effort to have your children at school early enough so that they can be settled in their classrooms by 8 a.m.

Flavored Water Packets

Gatorade and flavored water packets for water bottles are not allowed during school hours unless the student has a medical need that has been approved by Nurse Kristy.

Parents' Association

The Bright School Parents' Association (PA) is a volunteer-based organization dedicated to cultivating a sense of community at Bright School. Community building, clear communication, and fundraising are priorities of the PA.

If you would like information about how to volunteer with the PA, please contact Ginger Thomas.

Done-in-a-Day

The PA could use a few more volunteers for Done-in-a-Day. This is a group of parents who are on call for ad hoc projects at the school. For example, the office might need help with copies, sorting materials, setting up for an event, etc. You will receive an email calling for volunteers on a particular day. If you can participate and help that day, that's great! If not, we'll catch you the next time. To volunteer for done-in-a-day, please email Keri Williams.

The Social Institute: A Program for Parents

In collaboration with St. Peter's School and Brainerd Baptist School, we are excited to offer a seminar for parents about navigating the challenges of social media and technology. This seminar aims to equip parents with proactive tools to empower children in embracing a healthy and high-character approach to the digital world. Instead of resorting to fear and restrictions, we invite you to join us for a refreshing and practical presentation on parenting in the digital age.

Leading this discussion will be Laura Tierney, the esteemed Founder, and CEO of The Social Institute, a recognized leader in the field with a national presence. Together, we will engage in an interactive exploration of innovative strategies to foster positive social media and tech usage for our children, flipping the script on the common challenges faced in this digital era.

Date: Thursday, September 14
