Bright Fit Week

Who are we? Bright Fit! There are many activities this week to get students and families in the habit of being fit.

Be Fit All Week

Parents are invited to join children in P.E. class this week to earn tickets for prizes. Students have many ways to earn tickets at home. Watch for a flyer going home today with the tickets and information. Students will deposit the tickets throughout the week at the prizes table located in the main lobby. Visit the Bright Fit websitefor a list of ways to earn tickets, a P.E. schedule, and to download extra sheets of tickets.

Bright Fit Night

Plan to come Friday to Bright Fit Night! There will be all kinds of activities for families provided by vendors and organizations that are focused on physical activities. Grades JPK-1: 5-6:15 p.m. Grades 2-5: 6:45-8 p.m. Parking and shuttles will be available from Stuart Heights Baptist Church.

Bikes on Wednesday

Bring your child's bike to school on Wednesday. Students in grades 1-5 will ride their bikes or scooters (not motorized) during P.E. Students must have a helmet to ride. During car line, drop off the bike or scooter in the field. Please put your child's name or initials on the bike or scooter. Pick up the bikes or scooters in the afternoon from the field.

Girl Scouts Water Challenge

Drink more water and help raise money for new water filling stations at school! Look for more information and a chart in your child's backpack. The Girl Scouts are asking you to keep track of the money your family saves each time you swap a beverage (coffee, juice, soda, etc.) for tap water and donate that amount to the school for this project. Donations are due to the office by Wednesday, April 25. Checks may be made payable to The Bright School.

TODAY: Changes to Bright Afternoon Pick Ups

Bright School will host track meets today and April 23 and 30. To accommodate the large number of visitors for the meets, we will alter pick up for Bright Afternoons on those days. You will pick up your child from the concourse instead of the Early Childhood Center building.

When you enter the driveway, please be ready to inform the parking attendants you are picking up from Bright Afternoons. Proceed down the first aisle in the parking lot and pull up to the concourse. Our Bright Afternoons staff will call for your child and sign him or her out. There will be no parking available on campus those days so plan to stay in the car as you drive up.

If you are attending the track meet, please park at Stuart Heights Baptist Church and ride the shuttle. Shuttles will begin at 3:45 p.m. and continue throughout the meet. The first event begins at 4:15 p.m. Admission to the meet is $3 per adult and $2 per child with a $10 family maximum.

Summer Packets Order Forms Due Friday

Summer packets went home last week. Order forms and payment for summer skills books and required reading books for grades 3-5 are due to the office this Friday.

Spring Gardening Day is Sunday

Spring Gardening Day in the Early Childhood gardens is on Earth Day, April 22, from 1-2:30 p.m. As opposed to past gardening events, our focus this time will be strictly planting our spring/summer harvest. Pizza and water will be served right away for a quick lunch before the fun begins. Please send RSVPs to Mr. Greene at [email protected] to ensure enough food for all of our wonderful volunteers.

We are asking for you to please bring a special flower, plant, bush, or fruit tree for your child to plant and tend to in the coming weeks during school. If you are unable to attend but would still like to make a donation, you may send it in to Mr. Greene's classroom the week prior to Earth Day. Thank you for supporting our beautiful gardens and we hope to see you there!

Planning Ahead: Bright School Picnic

You will want to make plans now to attend the annual picnic with your child on Friday, May 18. There is no school that day. The picnic is held at the Peeples' farm in Ringgold, Georgia. More details will be coming soon!

Volunteers Needed for Grandparents' Day

We are looking forward to Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day to be held, Friday, May 4. As this special gathering nears, we continue to need volunteers. Anyone who is available and willing to help should contact Bibber McCurdy, at 423.580.8798 or [email protected].

Bright Handbell Camp

Music teacher Stephanie Bowling is offering a special handbell camp for rising fifth graders this summer. The camp is May 29-June 2 from 9 a.m. to Noon. There will be a performance on June 2 at 9:30 a.m. The cost is $125 and is limited to 13 students. To reserve your child's spot, return this form and payment payable to Stephanie Bowling by May 4.
