From the Head of School: Enrollment Update

I would like to share exciting news about our enrollment for next year. Based on an increase in applicants and acceptances, we have decided to add another section in both JPK and PK. This means there will be three sections in every grade next fall. To accommodate the new sections, we will shift classrooms in the Early Childhood Center building and relocate Spanish to the adjacent classroom on the library hall. We will share more details with our JPK and PK families enrolled for next year.

We remain committed to small class sizes and excellent teacher-to-student ratios. This is why we are adding extra sections instead of adding students into existing sections. JPK classes will remain capped at 12, and all other grades will max out at 16 per class. We expect overall enrollment to exceed our budgeted goal for 2018-19. However, admissions season never ends, so spread the word that we are still scheduling tours and accepting applications for all grades. Thank you for your help in promoting the school to your friends and referring families to us.

TODAY: Changes to Bright Afternoon Pick Ups

Bright School will host track meets today and April 16, 23 and 30. To accommodate the large number of visitors for the meets, we will alter pick up for Bright Afternoons on those days. You will pick up your child from the concourse instead of the Early Childhood Center building.

When you enter the driveway, please be ready to inform the parking attendants you are picking up from Bright Afternoons. Proceed down the first aisle in the parking lot and pull up to the concourse. Our Bright Afternoons staff will call for your child and sign him or her out. There will be no parking available on campus those days so plan to stay in the car as you drive up.

If you are attending the track meet, please park at Stuart Heights Baptist Church and ride the shuttle. Shuttles will begin at 3:45 p.m. and continue throughout the meet. The first event begins at 4:15 p.m. Admission to the meet is $3 per adult and $2 per child with a $10 family maximum.

Bright Fit is Coming!

Watch for an email later this week for all the details about Bright Fit Week, which is next week, April 16-20. Students will have a chance to earn tickets by doing healthy activities. The tickets go into a raffle for prizes. The email will explain how to earn tickets.

Bright Fit Night is April 20. Students in grades JPK-1 attend from 5-6:15 p.m. and grades 2-5 from 6:45-8 p.m. Families with children in multiple grades may pick a time. We will have several vendors stationed around the track with lots of fun activities for the family. Grade levels will compete for a popsicle party by completing activities at each booth.

There are two more Bright Fit shirt days: April 13 and 20. A few shirts remain for sale in the office for $10.

Summer Packets Coming Home

Watch for summer packets and order forms coming home with your child this week. Parents, open the packet as soon as it arrives because there are important order forms for Summer Skills books and required reading books for rising grades 3-5.

Save the Date: Spring Gardening Day

Spring Gardening Day in the Early Childhood gardens is on Earth Day, April 22, from 1-2:30 p.m. As opposed to past gardening events, our focus this time will be strictly planting our spring/summer harvest. Pizza and water will be served right away for a quick lunch before the fun begins. Please send RSVPs to Mr. Greene at [email protected] to ensure enough food for all of our wonderful volunteers.

We are asking for you to please bring a special flower, plant, bush, or fruit tree for your child to plant and tend to in the coming weeks during school. If you are unable to attend but would still like to make a donation, you may send it in to Mr. Greene's classroom the week prior to Earth Day. Thank you for supporting our beautiful gardens and we hope to see you there!

Planning Ahead: Bright School Picnic

You will want to make plans now to attend the annual picnic with your child on Friday, May 18. There is no school that day. The picnic is held at the Peeples' farm in Ringgold, Georgia. More details will be coming soon!
