Second graders are learning about rocks, minerals, earthquakes and volcanoes in their current reading unit "Earth in Action." The Creative Discovery Museum brought a field trip to them on Tuesday in the form of several hands-on learning stations.

Students got to shake block buildings in an earthquake, watch the way the earth folds when mountains are formed, categorize types of rocks, test magnetism and flotation of rocks, touch different types of soil, hunt for fossils in sand and see how a volcano erupts.
