Children love books and stories. First graders acted out three of their favorite books in their play "Penguins, Pigs and Ponytails," which they performed this week for the rest of the school and their families.

Each grade from kindergarten through fifth performs a play each year. First grade teachers Denise Cooper, Merrill Levine and Leanne Sharpe directed the children in this play that includes the telling of three books: Tacky the Penguin, Elephants Can't Dance and Stephanie's Ponytail. The play is set in the school's library, where children eagerly await the librarian's choice of book to read aloud.
