Author Susan Bernardo and illustrator Courtenay Fletcher visited Bright School on Thursday to talk about creating children's books and to read their books, The Big Adventures of Tiny House and Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs to grades PK-2.

They gave a dramatic reading of Sun Kisses, Moon Hugs, and then talked about their backgrounds and the process of making a book from the early ideas, to revisions, to the drawings and actually printing. They got the idea for the Tiny House book when they met a family who traveled around the U.S. and Canada in their tiny house. Then they asked the students to say where they would go if they could go anywhere in a tiny house. Students said Hawaii (if it was a tiny houseboat), Disney World, New York and Paris (if it could fit on an airplane).

Bernardo and Fletcher also signed books for students. Their visit was coordinated by librarian Elizabeth Oakes.
