Carrying on a Bright School tradition, fifth graders launched their rockets on a beautiful morning with little wind. Launching rockets has been a part of the fifth grade science curriculum for 16 years.

Students make the rockets in class. On launch day, students make last-minute adjustments and attach the rocket to the small launch pad. When the rocket ascends, other fifth graders track it with altimeters and calculate how high the rockets travel before falling back to Earth.

Younger students enjoy launch day as well. Many of them watch during recess and help the fifth graders count down to liftoff.
