Third graders have been studying about different types of communities and read the book "Everybody Cooks Rice" by Norah Dooley. The book explains how communities are made up of different people, how differences make us great and how communities come together to achieve goals.
The Rice Celebration was held today to culminate this social studies unit, and it's a fun time for families to share different ways they cook rice at home. Everyone got a sample of all the dishes they wanted, and it was delicious! Different rice dishes were rice pudding, fried rice, steamed rice, sushi and rice balls.
